What to expect
It is common to feel a heightening of anxiety as you bravely step into seasons of counselling and personal reflection. Often people have questions about what to expect. Below is a brief explanation of your first appointment and beyond, at Pure Heart Therapies.
As you register your interest on the ‘Make an appointment’ page, I will receive an email with your private and confidential information. Within the next few days I will be in contact via text, to introduce myself and book a date and time for your initial Counselling appointment.
Once you have booked your appointment, you will receive a few emails with important information. Emails will include an appointment reminder and an email asking to ‘please complete attached private and confidential forms’.
The attached client consent form, will need to be read and signed, to acknowledge your understanding of Pure Heart Therapies services and conditions. The client intake form will need to be read and information provided, prior to your first appointment.
Your first appointment will be 90 minutes. This will allow the time to explore your reasons for seeking counselling, to discuss your personal goals, and to help answer any questions you may have.
In our first appointment, I will get to know you by gathering information on your strengths and difficulties. I will ask questions regarding your life history and family of origin. Therapy intervention and goals will be holistic and driven by you, incorporating elements of spirit, soul and body. The therapeutic frameworks and skill set I draw from in therapy will be guided by you and tailored to your unique story and desired future legacy.
Ongoing therapy appointments will be either 90 or 60 minutes. Together we will decide if appointments are scheduled weekly, fortnightly or monthly. We will continue to explore your history and family of origin, as we discuss your progress towards goals and continue to build on skills. You will be invited to give feedback regularly, to ensure all interventions are the right fit for you and your family in this season.
It can be challenging to know when is the right time to end services. We will work together and openly discuss when it feels appropriate to finish. If we think it is necessary, I can refer you to other service providers to help with additional areas of need.
