Counselling with Sarah…

My varied qualifications and studies in Counselling, Family Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Ministry and Theology can help clients to explore and understand their own unique journey, context and presenting difficulties.

As a Counsellor, with an Advanced Certificate in Systemic Family Therapy, I aim to establish trust and an honouring space for individuals, couples and families to share their stories, while together mapping out their families of origin. Clients are encouraged to identify strengths, while exploring the influence of generational behaviour and communication patterns on current relationships, life stages and presenting difficulties. It is my hope, as we stand together and look back, clients will gain self awareness, a strong sense of identity and renewed courage to step into the future and culture they have always desired. Choosing to rewrite the story and legacy handed to the next generation.

Through my lens of Occupational Therapy I explore the overlap between person (roles, identity, culture, personality, health), environment (physical, social, socio-economic) and occupation (self care, work, parenting) and how these influence clients stories and presenting problems. Often as life stages change, individuals, couples and families encounter the need for adjustments in their person, environment or occupational domains. Through a strong therapeutic connection, built on trust and compassion, I help clients explore these often difficult life transition seasons. Pure Heart Therapies focuses on individual, couple and families strengths, assisting clients create their own unique goals, while providing support throughout necessary adjustments within the person, environment and occupational domains.

My studies in Ministry and Theology and training in SOZO, Elijah House and inner healing, influence my belief that spirituality must be invited into the therapy room. Pure Heart Therapies promotes health and healing in all spheres including spirit, soul and body. I understand the importance of faith on an individuals identity, level of freedom and healing journey. I will work closely with clients, allowing them to guide my inclusion of spirituality within their therapy sessions.
